Lisa Stum

Lisa is a Christ follower, wife, mother of two teenage boys, and a passionate educator for over 16 years. She has taught grades Pre-K, First through Third grade, and Fifth grade and is currently a Dyslexia Therapist.  She taught in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, and finally relocated to Texas with her family in 2015 where she had the privilege of teaching in Mckinney ISD and Prosper ISD over the last nine years. She had the opportunity to get her Take Flight training through Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital and received her Certified Academic Language Therapist License (CALT).

She graduated from Cairn University in Pennsylvania with a double major in Bible and her bachelors degree in Elementary Education.  In 2011, Lisa went on to obtain a masters degree from California State University San Marcos in Education with a concentration in Special Education and Assistive Technology.

Growing up with a brother who had cerebral palsy she regularly witnessed therapists coming alongside him and encouraging him to accomplish things that no one thought possible. She is now able to pay forward that individual attention and help students discover their own superpower as they gain confidence in their reading and ultimately begin to understand their unique gifts that will lead them to be successful in all areas of their lives!  This experience in her life is the driving passion behind “Joy in Reading”.

“The JOY of the Lord is my strength.” Nehemiah 8:10
